This should be mandatory reading for all educators, especially those that wish to implement trauma-sensitive practices in their classrooms and school. The best part about this book is its brain-based approach to understanding trauma. I also appreciated that the book was written with secondary teachers in mind. I've found with many education books, a lot of the strategies are easy to implement in grade school and are more geared toward younger children. For a less technical but excellent read, I'd recommend the book "Fostering Resilient Learners." It lays a nice foundation on which to understand the information provided in "Trauma-Sensitive Schools." This book has helped me so much to coach teachers into understanding how students relive trauma through the stable adults around them. It reminds me to help teachers take care of themselves with real strategies that I can use with kids.
